Control systems for nutrition and ingredient plants

Nutrition plants sit between food and pharma: the process is food manufacturing, but the record-keeping expectation increasingly is not.

The characteristic control problem here is recipe management. Plants that hard-code product parameters into controller logic need an engineer for every new SKU; plants with a proper recipe structure need a production supervisor and ten minutes.

Getting there is mostly a structuring exercise — separating phase logic from recipe data, defining units and equipment modules properly, and giving the recipe editor to the people who own the product.

Common scopes

  • Recipe and batch structure that production can extend without a developer
  • Weighing and dosing accuracy, including tolerance handling and reweigh routines
  • Batch record capture with full material and parameter traceability
  • Dust extraction interlocks against process equipment
  • Dryer and evaporator loop control and tuning
  • CIP sequence control with recorded evidence
